  1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the requirements as presented in 1.4 under General Information in the UFS Rule Book, the following also applies:

    1. Candidates must have an average final-year mark of at least 65% in a relevant Exit Level 7 qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree).
It is strongly recommended* that students should also have completed certain modules in their BA qualification which will develop their critical thinking, analytical and writing skills. The following undergraduate subjects address these skills. It is thus recommended that students should have completed a minimum of three of the modules offered by the following departments with at least one of these modules on third-year level:
      • Afrikaans and Dutch
      • German and French
      • Art History & Image Studies
      • Communication Science / Media Studies
      • Drama & Theatre Arts
      • English / Language Studies
      • Fine Arts
      • Philosophy

*However, if you do not meet this requirement but have completed other relevant learning – whether in another subject or related experience in making/writing about films – you can still apply, as the programme committee will consider all the applications in terms of their individual merits.

    2. Applications are subject to preliminary assessment and/or additional study as suggested in consultation with the programme director as representative of the Programme Committee.
    3. Particular attention will be paid to the candidates’ proven writing and critical thinking skills.
    4. Candidates may only register after the programme director has issued a letter of approval or signed the DV3 form for their admission and selection of modules.
  2. CURRICULUM

The following three modules are presented and are compulsory (have to be passed in order to obtain the qualification). Please note that all three are year modules.
